Impressions from the 7th Horn Academy (2022)

The International Horn Academy was held for the 7th time in Balatonfüred

The 24 active participants of the Masterclass were selected from among the most talented horn players in the 17-28 age group, while 8 students from the 12-16 age group were invited to participate. Students came from the Liszt Academy of Music, secondary and higher education institutions in the countryside, Germany, Bulgaria, Israel, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and South Korea.

The course began with a grand opening concert performed by professors from the Horn Academy and flute player János Bálint. On the fourth day of the event, a traditional musical flashmob was held with all participants and teachers. 37 horn players, boarding four sailboats, gave a highly successful concert from the waters of Lake Balaton for the Tagore Walk audience. On the fifth day, a matinee concert was organized, during which two students of the course gave instrument demonstrations and performed music for children in the lower grades in a playful way.

A concert for young musicians took place in the hall of the Ferencsik János Music School, and the final concert was held in the Reformed Church in Ferencik János for the fourth time in 2022. The concert was a remarkable conclusion to the 7th International Horn Academy, and in addition to the highly successful chamber pieces, the large audience was treated to an encore performance by the newly formed Horn Academy Choir of a chorale from J. S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (Befiehl du deine Wege).
